Our exam is on June 7th in our math class, at 9am. Our portfolios are also do as soon as possible and there is re-tests possible but you have to talk to Mr. Maksymchuk if you are interested. Also, you can still hand in notebook assigments from any explorations. We are also going over on how to do a tax return.
Friday, May 28, 2010
Today in class we started a new chapter, which was chapter 5 Preparing income tax returns. We pretty much just had a work period, and learned how to do an income tax form. Kinda. There was no homework given but there is only five more days until the exam and looking over the material would be good I suppose.

To in class we started off with mental math as usual. Then we did something different we started out the Investments Unit by running over the first exploration with Mak in class. The question were about goals and values.
Goals-a plan that is intended to achieve,
Values-something that is treasured
He asked us question like what are goals and values were, what they would be in 10 yrs, 25 yrs, and so on. He asked us to set some goals also. It helped us kinda start to think about what we might have to deal with and what we might want to be doing to maybe help us financially in the future.

B being the number of scores below a given score.
E the numberof scores equal to a given score.
N is the number of scores in total.
*My computer wouldn't work to put the notes up.

Today in class we are starting off the day with NO mental math! We are going to start brain storming for our end of the chapter project. Some people have already called dibbes on some of the objects they plan on doing it on. I think that im going to my project on a desk shelve. We'll probably just work on our projects for the rest of the class.

Weigh the Wangdoodle
Okay so I'm not sure if this will link but this is pretty much a sweet game i'd say. This is the website at least -> http://www.mathplaygroung.com.wangdoodles.html/ I think it's kind of hard, but I know Mr. Maksymchuk will get it fast; but if you're not that bright like me it'll take a while. What you have to do is figure out the weight of the wangdoodles to make all of them balanced on all three scales.
Math Games
Try this one! Bet it's too "Trippy" for you to get through every level as quick as you can without clicking at least one wrong ball!

The Good News and the Bad News
The bad news is that with my schedule being what it was...I wasn't able to get the tests to the substitute to return this week, so your Personal Finance tests will have to be returned to you on Monday. Having said that, I also told you that I wouldn't give you another test until I returned the first one, so I'm postponing Monday's test until Tuesday. That was the good news.
During Monday's class, I'll hand back your tests, and I'll help you to prepare for Tuesday's test on Government Finances. As it has been discussed below, if you're studying, I would sincerely encourage the use of the archived provincial exams on the Dept. of Ed. website here. Link from here or from the main links set on the right of this post.
Enjoy your weekend!

Today was basically a work day. We had a substitue and our list of tasks to do was on the board.
They were:
1) Explorations #6 and #7, Notebook assignments SOON.
The test has been moved to Monday the 8th now. It is on chapter 3, Government Finances.
2) Blog-->Vocabulary onto your personal blog from sample problems from the chapter.
Study for the exam through the old archived exams! Follow the link on the blog. Mr Maksymchuk stated the test will be the same as the first one. The questions will come straight from those exams.

*just another day
Today we started off the day with mental math as usual. Mr Mak then told us that we were all going to be joining a ning that we could all chat on it in class.
Next he started the lesson about property taxes
This lesson didnt really makes sense to me, and I honestly didnt really know what was going on. I will probably have to get some help on this. But for the other people who may have understood it more... here is the pictures of the work that Mr. Mak did.
