After we did the example on paper Mr. Maksymchuk showed us how to put that example on a spreadsheet and that it is a lot faster if you do your work on a spreadsheet you just cant use it on our tests. now we have to finish notebook assignment 1-7 you can use the text book table (2003 old) that you can correct yourself or use the new handout table that Mr. Maksymchuk (2008 old) that we will correct together.

Scribe Post

On this Monday afternoon we began the class with Mental Math #3. Briefly after finishing that Mr. Maksymchuk explained our new way of recieving homework marks.
The way we will get full homework marks throughout this semester is completing all the notebook assignments and exercises from the textbook on or before the day of the test. I beleive this applies to any other assignments that come up and are assigned as homework.
The last thing we did before begining work for the day was a short lesson lasting about 7 or 8 minutes which has the recording attached to this post. The main thing we were supposed to get out of this lesson was that "it is possible to pay off your mortgage faster with different strategies". Some strategies would consist of investments, tax returns, and placing other sudden lump sums of money onto the principal of your mortgage quickly.

The two pages below are examples of questions for homework on exercise 2 from page 32 and 33. The two questions are number 2 and number 7.

**Mortgage Payments** Thinking of our futures..yay! :)

To start off the class, we first did mental math, which consisted mostly of memory questions from our former lessons,

We then started our lesson for the day which was 'Calculating Mortgage Payments.' We talked about different types of mortgages Open Mortgages, and Variable-Rate Mortgages.

Mak then showed us how mortgage payments have two different parts, Principal and Interest, which are combined to usually make a monthly payment.

He then showed us, through a spreadsheet on Excel, how to figure our your Princical , Interest, Unpaid Balance, Owners Equity.

He also showed us how to find take the monthly payment and find the interest, which is I=p*r*t

What's Homework?

Today Glen couldn't scribe so I'm going to today. We started out with our first mental math quiz. Mr Max informed us that our homework is our lecture and to pay attention to him, and we will not be doing a lot of HOMEwork this semester because no one usually does it.Personally, I don't mind this because I don't like homework myself.

We got assigned the notebook assignment on page 22 to be checked for homework today. Mr. Max went through the questions that we had problems with:

Wednesday, February 03, 2010

Today Mr. Max talked about Haiti and what we can do to help, then he handed out mental math and the class policies sheets, then we got our computers assigned to us and most of us are contributors to our class blog, after we did that, Mr. Max , started teaching the first lesson, he is recording his lessons, so that if you need to know something you can come on the blog and listen to the lesson from that class. Anytime he assigns a chapter, we will always have to do the notebook assignment.
